Senior Hurling: Well done to our senior hurlers on their epic win in the Mid Tipperary SHC Final over Upperchurch on Sunday in front of a bumper crowd in Littleton. Nothing separated the sides at full time and extra time was required to settle the result. A tit for tat affair in extra time was resolved with Drom & Inch clinching the title with the last puck of the ball.

Upperchurch were firmly in control for the majority of this match and led by six points at half time thanks to a Michael Lee goal and some deadly free taking from Padraig Green.

Upperchurch began the second half how they finished the first, in full control and were in a commanding 7 point lead mid way through the half when Drom & Inch captain, David Butler was fouled in the square. Johhny Ryan buried the resulting penalty and suddenly the Drom & Inch tails were up. Scores from James Woodlock, Mikey Connors, Seamus Callanan and Johnny Ryan pulled us to within 2 points in injury time. Having come close on several occasions through David Butler & Tommy Nolan, a second goal was coming. A long ball into the danger area was broken down by Michael Campion and picked up by Seamus Callanan and with no time or space, blasted home from 12 meters. Drom leading by one. There was always going to be a chance for Upperchurch to equalize and from a long range free under the stand, Padraig Green split the posts. Extra time to play.

Drom & Inch given a lifeline sensed the title was firmly back up for grabs having wrestled the initiative from Upperchurch. Johnny Ryan put Drom in front for the first time in extra time with two points (1 free). But Upperchurch refused to go away and pulled it level. James Woodlock scored a wonderful solo effort after travelling with the ball from his own half and flicked the ball over the bar despite intense Upperchurch pressure. With full time fast approaching, and the sides level again, James Woodlock got on the end of a breaking ball and found substitute Shane Hassett in space who calmly slotted over the winning score from 25 meters.

Congratulations to all the players, backroom team and the management team of Seamus Kennedy, Lorcan Looby, Tom Kenneally, Eamonn Buckley and John Mullins for their efforts. Final score was 2-19 to 1-21 AET. The seniors are next out in the County quarter final scheduled for the weekend of the 11th. Fixture TBC
