Tipperary Sports Partnership is facilitating a Coach Education Programme to enable clubs in Tipperary to gain easier access to relevant training courses that will benefit their coaches. The Coaching Children workshops and additional Physical Literacy workshop are the first workshops being delivered as part of this programme.
Sport Ireland Coaching have developed their Coaching Children Programme to provide candidates with a basic understanding of children’s sport and physical activity and best ways to optimise children’s enjoyment, participation and positive outcomes. The programme consists of 4 workshops and is designed to be interactive and practical while also providing coaches the opportunity to network with other coaches of children.
Physical literacy is the foundation for lifelong involvement in physical activity according to The Lifelong Involvement in Sport & Physical Activity (LISPA) model. Sport Ireland Coaching has also developed a course to give participants the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of physical literacy
This module is an interactive 2 hour workshop which will enable participants to:
- Outline the origins, definition, elements, relationship between the elements and importance of physical literacy
