posted an hour ago by Michelle Donnelly
On Saturday evening last Moycarkey Borris earned themselves another round in the CM Signs Cahill Cup when they defeated Drom-Inch in the Quarter Final. It was a tightly contested battle with the highest margin being four points.
Chris McCullagh opened Moycarkey’s scoring with a point but Drom-Inch quickly replied with two points from Seamus and David Butler. Johnny Ryan and Kieran Morris traded frees. Pat Ralph converted another free before David Butler added two more points on the tenth minute. In the next four minutes Moycarkey added three points to Drom-Inch’s single point thus equalising the game at the end of the first quarter, Moycarkey Borris 0-7 Drom-Inch 0-7. In the next minute points were traded before Pat Ralph pointed another free to give Moycarkey the lead. The sides traded frees again before Moycarkey registered two points (Pat Ralph, free and Pat Carey) in the twenty third minute. David Butler added a point to Drom’s score line reducing the margin two points. Another two frees by Moycarkey’s, Pat Ralph ended their scoring but David Butler added a free just before the half time whistle to go in Moycarkey Borris 0-14 Drom-Inch 0-11.
After the restart, a pointed free in the thirty second minute by Pat Ralph opened the scoring. The teams traded a further two points each before David Butler and Johnny Ryan added two more points to Drom-Inch’s score line reducing the deficit to two points as the third quarter finished. Scores were harder to come by for Moycarkey Borris and when Drom-Inch’s Johnny Ryan reduced the margin to a single point in the forty sixth minute the intensity of the game heightened with everyone working harder to get the scores and retain possession. Two more points were added to each team’s score line and in the fifty fourth Kieran Morris pointed a free and stretched the margin to two points with another point to come from Pat Carey. As in the first half the final score went to Drom-Inch’s David Butler, a point finishing the game, Moycarkey Borris 0-21 Drom-Inch 0-19.
